Splashed Ice

69 Fourth Ave. Larder Lake, ON

FedNor is the Government of Canada’s economic development organization for Northern Ontario. Through its programs and services, and through its financial support of projects that lead to job creation and economic growth, FedNor works with businesses and community partners to build a stronger Northern Ontario. The Township of Larder Lake is extremely thankful and would like to acknowledge a contribution of $100,000 from the Government of Canada through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program administered by FedNor.  The grant has been used to rehabilitate our local outdoor ice rink into a new skating rink / splash pad facility.  The Isabella Kasner Memorial Splash Pad & Larder Lake Ice Rink is a “splashed ice” recreational facility, meaning that it serves as a splash pad throughout the summer months, and the same surface doubles as a skating rink during winter.

An agency of the Government of Ontario, the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is one of Canada’s largest granting foundations. With a budget of over $136 million, OTF awards grants to some 1,000 projects every year to build healthy and vibrant Ontario communities.  We are pleased to formally congratulate the community and announce that we are successful recipients of an OTF capital grant in the amount of $125,000 for the Splashed Ice Phase 2 Project.  The project generally involves improvements to the existing splash pad / ice rink facility in the way of outdoor furniture, equipment, and landscaping, including the construction of a washroom / change room building.  The grant term is for 9 months beginning April 1st, 2018 and therefore the work will be underway very soon.
